BOUND BY BUTTERFLIES: A SISTERLY VISION

Behind many of Morpho + Luna’s most evocative images lies a story not only of artistic collaboration, but of sisterhood.
Caroline Gavazzi, photographer and long-time creative companion, shares more than a surname with Cécile Gavazzi, founder and creative director of Morpho + Luna. They share a language, visual and emotional, shaped by a deep bond that has grown across cities, collections, and time. From London to Paris, from Milan to Lake Como, their friendship and familial connection have quietly informed the way Morpho + Luna has been seen and felt over the years.
Butterflies, so central to the brand’s name and philosophy, are also central to their shared world. For both Caroline and Cécile, the butterfly is more than a symbol of transformation. It is a personal totem of beauty, fragility, and resilience. This mutual devotion has found its way into photographs, prints, installations, and subtle gestures throughout the Morpho + Luna universe. It is not uncommon to find Caroline’s sculptural butterfly works in parallel with the brand’s seasonal storytelling, a dance between stillness and flight.
Their creative journey spans over a decade of quietly powerful campaigns, where Caroline’s lens has helped shape the emotional narrative of the brand. Whether capturing the summer hush of a villa on Lake Como or the moody interiors of a Milanese apartment, her photography reveals more than clothes. It reveals atmosphere, intention, intimacy. The Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, set in the historical Villa Cramer Tassera, is just one such example, a place filled with memory and texture, layered like her imagery.
What makes their collaboration so enduring is not only aesthetic affinity, but trust. There is an ease to their shared process, the kind that allows for laughter between frames, long silences while composing, and a shared understanding of what needs no explanation. It is this unspoken thread that allows each image to carry something personal, something felt.
Rooted in love, layered in meaning, and always evolving, the relationship between Caroline and Morpho + Luna continues to be one of quiet joy and creative intimacy, a dialogue built not just on images, but on the invisible ties between sisters.
With love,
Cécile
