A Summer in Melides, Portugal

Every summer, we return to Melides.

Over the past few years, it has become a very special place for our family. We spend much of the summer outdoors, following the slower rhythm of the days and the landscape around us.

 



Building our home here has been a gradual project and a true labour of love. As a family, we have always felt a deep connection to nature, and the house is intrinsically tied to the landscape around it. Pine trees, eucalyptus and magnificent ancient cork oaks surround us, their sculptural presence changing with the light and the seasons. It has been a particular joy to watch the land become increasingly alive, with birds, butterflies, insects and wildlife returning with every season.



And then there is the Atlantic. Long stretches of beach and dunes run along this part of the coast, much of it still wonderfully wild. The dunes are protected, preserving a fragile landscape between the land and the ocean. There is something deeply restorative about this sea, its cold water, the breeze and the immense horizon. A swim in the Atlantic has become one of the simplest rituals of our summers here.

 



This summer, horses have become part of our life here too. I have ridden since I was very young, so having them close to us feels particularly special. Riding through the land has also given me a different way of seeing it, the paths, the trees, the changing light and the landscape beyond the house.

Morpho + Luna has always been closely connected to our family. Our children have grown up alongside the brand and have, in different ways, become part of its story, sharing ideas and opinions, helping along the way and, occasionally, finding themselves in front of the camera.


 




Over time, the house has also naturally filled with pieces from Morpho + Luna. Linens, prints and fabrics from different collections are used every day, mixed with things we have collected and lived with for years. I love seeing them here, away from the context of a collection or a photograph, simply becoming part of the house.





These photographs are a few fragments of our summer in Melides, the house, the landscape, our family and the small details of everyday life in a place that has gradually become part of the Morpho + Luna story.
