A RETURN TO RESCHIO: DISCOVERING THE NEW BOTTEGA

Each summer, I find myself drawn back to one of my most cherished places: Reschio. Nestled in the rolling hills of Umbria, this 3,750-acre estate is a place of extraordinary beauty—a valley suspended in time. Unlike its well-known Tuscan neighbor, Umbria still feels raw and untamed. Here, oak and chestnut woods veil mirror-still lakes, and ancient stone farmhouses are scattered like secrets across the landscape. At its heart rises Castello di Reschio, a circular castle that watches over the land like a benevolent spirit from a Renaissance dreamscape.
Reschio is more than a destination. It’s a vision—crafted and carefully nurtured by the Bolza family. Count Benedikt, an architect of quiet genius, and his wife Donna Nencia, a Florentine artist I’ve known since childhood, have created a world that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Their eye for detail, their reverence for craftsmanship, and their deep love of this land are visible in every corner of the estate, from the beautifully restored farmhouses to the atmospheric Hotel Castello di Reschio.
This summer’s return held a special delight: our visit to the newly opened Bottega di Reschio, an intimate and inspired evolution of the original gift shop—now a true treasure trove nestled beside the Scuderie. Curated with Nencia’s impeccable taste and her artist’s eye, the new Bottega is a sensory journey through Italy’s most soulful craftsmanship. Each object tells a story: hand-loomed Florentine sunhats, Venetian slippers, Sicilian candles, handwoven baskets, small-batch olive oils, and linen shawls dyed in earth tones drawn from the landscape itself.
Amid these discoveries, I was deeply touched to see our own Morpho + Luna pieces—quietly elegant sleepwear, dreamy linen robes, and delicately detailed home linens—woven into this world. Our collaboration with Reschio is anchored in shared values: reverence for tradition, timelessness, and the quiet power of things made slowly and with care. To see our creations nestled amongst the Bottega’s curated finds felt like a homecoming of sorts.
If you find yourself anywhere near Umbria or Cortona, do make the detour. You don’t need to be a guest at the Villas or the Castello to dine at Ristorante Alle Scuderie—a convivial restaurant with a buzzing bar—or to lose yourself in the beauty of the Bottega. Whether you’re searching for something special to take home or simply looking to linger and soak in the atmosphere, it’s a space that invites curiosity and wonder.
With love,
