As many of us become more socially and environmentally conscious in our buying decisions, the slow fashion movement is gaining momentum. Slow fashion is all about creating good quality garments, using production methods and materials that are 100% traceable, and guaranteed to be fair and responsible at every stage of the process. Buying good-quality clothing from smaller producers that are transparent with their supply chain – and who work with only ethical producers and manufacturers – might mean spending more money, but such an item will last longer, and you are more likely to keep it for more than one season.
Morpho + Luna strongly advocates the slow fashion movement. Attention to detail is key at every stage of our production process, and the materials we use are completely traceable. This is why it can take over a month for a new line of garments – or just a single roll of fabric – to reach us, something that becomes clear when you wear one of our pieces, and appreciate the high quality of the materials and the intricate nature of the exquisite finishing touches.
We are fully committed to transparency so that consumers can make a conscious decision to buy a well-designed, well-made piece of clothing that can be worn in all seasons, and for many years to come. All of our luxury loungewear and sleepwear is manufactured in Italy (with the exception of our pashmina gown's which are hand embroidered in Kashmir) and we are always conscious of how much we produce, trying to keep surplus stock to a minimum to avoid waste. This isn’t always easy, but it’s why we tend to work with small, traditional manufacturers who have lower minimum orders and who also offer superior levels of craftsmanship.
Morpho + Luna invests in research and development, often spending months working with suppliers on developing new techniques and colour palettes for our collections. All of our carefully selected suppliers comply to strict EU regulations, and are as committed as we are to sustainability.
We also use only 100% natural fibres – cottons, silks and wools – that aren’t treated with the pesticides and chemicals that can be so harmful to eco-systems. No chemicals or harmful dyes are used in our products, and our swing tags are made from paper rather than plastic. Even our beautiful packaging – items are wrapped in tissue paper and presented in an elegant paper box – is 100% recyclable, and made in Italy, not China, keeping shipping costs down.
